Brian Cox, a physicist and former musician, joked that Rishi Sunak's election announcement was drowned out by his former band's hit Things Can Only Get Better.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister made his speech in the rain outside No. 10, while the song D:Ream, used as the New Labor Party's election anthem in 1997, was played at full volume outside Downing Street.
Music played by Steve Bray, a serial Westminster protester, and 10 other pro-European Union activists.
Cox, former D:Ream keyboardist, posted a clip of the moment Prime Minister finished his speech and turned to return to Number 10 to the theme song of the American television sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Cox, who played in the bands D:Ream and Dare in the 1990s, became a professor of particle physics and rose to fame after hosting BBC TV shows including Planets and Wonders of the World. Solar System.
D:Ream's hit, which spent four weeks at number one in 1994, entered the top 10 on the iTunes chart on Thursday, peaking at number six.
