The winners were congratulated by Alexander Shoitov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, and Igor Lyapunov, General Director of the Solar Group, the award ceremony was broadcast online.
Igor Lyapunov< /b>commented on the results of the competition: “The Cyber Championship is not only and not so much a sport, it is the best practice of cyber exercises. They should be part of daily life. You cannot be a theoretical boxer, and specialists can achieve the correct order of responding to attacks only through training. It is noteworthy that today’s winners represent and, accordingly, protect precisely those industries that are under special attention of cybercriminals: according to Solar’s observations, these are the public sector, telecommunications and the real sector of the economy. Therefore, it is very gratifying to see that the specialists who stand guard over them show such a high class, and most importantly, interest in developing skills and sharing experience.”
The International Cyber Championship was held for the third time. The organizers received more than 180 applications from 21 countries and allowed 40 teams from Russia and friendly countries to participate: Algeria, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Vietnam, Egypt, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Laos, Malaysia, Mali, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Ethiopia. In the qualifying stage, the teams showed high professionalism and equality of strength, and therefore the number of places in the finals was increased to seven.
The goal of the championship is to develop practical skills in interaction between specialists in the field of information security, coordinate efforts to combat global cybercrime and develop the international community through the exchange of experience in responding to cyber attacks. Specialists demonstrate a readiness to repel threats, mastery of advanced technologies, tools and tactics, as well as teamwork.
Each team defended its own infrastructure segment — a digital copy of a standard facility built at the Solara cyber range » Unlike the qualifying round, in the finals it was necessary to repel not automated attacks, but the attack of real opponents — specialists in the field of offensive cybersecurity. The confrontation, which lasted six hours, was accompanied by an online text broadcast, as well as real-time analytics from Andrey Kuznetsov, technical director of the cyber training ground, and Sergei Popov, presenter, e-sports commentator.
