Rishi Sunak scored an own goal in an attempt to get ordinary people into the game. talk about football.
During one of his first meetings with voters of the election campaign, the Prime Minister asked brewery workers in South Wales if they were looking forward to “football” this summer.
Unfortunately for Mr Sunak, Wales failed to qualify for the European Championships. Of the home teams, only England and Scotland reached the final.
His gaffe prompted an embarrassed silence at the Vale of Glamorgan brewery in Barry.
The Prime Minister tried to start the game. conversation about how the championship could increase revenue, with the question: “So are you looking forward to football?”
After an awkward pause, one of the brewery employees replied: “We’re not that interested in that,” to which another replied: «That's because you guys aren't involved.»

The Prime Minister claims he is a Southampton or Saints fan.
In 2022, he said he was «a huge football fan» but embarrassed himself by mistakenly saying his team played Manchester United the weekend they played Leicester City.
The Conservative leader was shown the brewing process at the brewery along with Welsh Secretary David T.S. Davis and Glamorgan MP Alan Cairns.
He told staff they were “part of a real industry that we are committed to supporting”. ', mentioning the 'Brexit pub guarantee' and business rates support.
The visit to the brewery was part of Mr Sunak's campaign tour of all four UK countries the day after he called the general election. for July 4.
