The updated “hot” Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is preparing for an imminent debut

The “charged” new product of the German brand will take part in the “24 Hours of Nürburgring” race, which starts on June 1. On the eve of the marathon, on May 31, the premiere of the hot hatch will take place.

Volkswagen Golf is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and the brand has timed a restyling of the family to coincide with the anniversary. The current eighth generation Golf debuted in 2019, and the updated version was presented at the end of January of this year. Let us remember that the regular Golf was shown back then, as well as the “hot” versions of the Golf GTI and the Golf GTE hybrid. Now a “charged” version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport is being prepared for its premiere.

The company said that the updated Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport will take part in the race » 24 Hours of Nürburgring”, which starts on June 1. The hot hatch will premiere on the eve of the marathon, on May 31. The German manufacturer accompanied the announcement with photographs of a disguised prototype of the future new product.

Judging by the pictures, the Golf GTI Clubsport will receive a modified front end, an illuminated VW logo and LED headlights with different “stuffing”. It is distinguished from the “just” GTI by a different design of the large air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper: it has additional “windows” above the splitter, and the “ribs” located on the mesh on the sides also look different.

The rear was decorated with a larger spoiler and a more massive diffuser with a pair of Akrapovic exhaust pipes. The hot hatch's standard equipment includes 19-inch Queenstown alloys, and Warmenau forged wheels of the same size are available for an extra charge. Their peculiarity is that each of them is 8 kg lighter.

The refreshed hot hatchback Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport will receive new sports front seats with built-in headrests. Otherwise, the interior will likely be the same as the rest of the updated Golf family. So the five-door will most likely receive a new MIB4 infotainment system with a larger touch screen (12.9-inch diagonal) and ChatGPT support.

There is no information yet about the technology of the updated Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport hot hatch. The company only noted that the new product will be equipped with “a powerful drive and a high-class sports suspension.” Note that the current version has a 2.0-liter turbo-four under the hood with an output of 300 hp. (maximum torque — 400 Nm), which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It is known that the exclusive Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 24h will also take part in the race. This hatchback was equipped with an aerodynamic package, which includes a body kit around the perimeter of the body, extended wheel arches, a massive splitter, side skirts and a large rear wing. This example is equipped with an upgraded version of the 2.0-liter TSI engine producing 348 hp. (450 Nm).
