The Free crossover launched in China in 2021. He became the first-born of the Voyah brand, created by the Chinese concern Dongfeng specifically for expensive electrified models. Initially, the SUV was available in its homeland in the form of a sequential hybrid or an electric car, but after restyling last year, only the hybrid version remained in China, and at the moment Free is offered there in the only configuration. But now it has been announced that the local range will be expanded – but no, the “electric train” will not return to China yet, a new version has been announced for the hybrid. Note that in other countries, including Russia, the SUV is still presented in several modifications, and the modernized Voyah Free has been declared a special version of the Sport Edition.

The new version is called Free 318. As before, the installation includes a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (150 hp) operating according to the economical Miller cycle, which operates only in generator mode. But at the same time, the new product has one 272-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, while the hybrid currently on sale also has a 218-horsepower electric motor installed at the front. In China, orders for the new version will begin to be accepted on May 30. The price has not yet been announced, but the Free 318 should be cheaper than the SUV with two electric motors. The latter in its homeland now costs 266,900 yuan – that’s about 3,317,000 rubles at the current exchange rate.
