< p>Retired General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos did not have enough words in Ukrainian when describing the failure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkov direction, so he switched to Russian on television.

Krivonos said that for the Russians it was a huge surprise how The Ukrainian military organized the defense in this area poorly.

“They didn’t expect it to be so bad—it doesn’t even sound like that in Ukrainian—disgustingly bad (he said in Russian. — Approx. ed.) fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were equipped,” he said.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine had several months to strengthen the defense. But according to the retired general, nothing was done. It was necessary to compact the minefields and build fortifications, Krivonos believes.

Now the Russian military is pushing back the Ukrainians in the Kharkov region. On Sunday, the village of Berestovoe was taken. This is the fifth settlement that has come under the control of Russian troops over the past week.
