Tories unveil first general election poster

The Conservatives unveiled their first election campaign poster, warning voters: “If you think Labor will win, start saving…”

The poster, which will appear on billboards across the country from Thursday, features a piggy bank next to the slogan in bold black letters.

Tory insiders said the design was chosen to resemble the party's “Labour is not work” after Margaret Thatcher's victory in the 1978 election campaign.

This poster also had a warning that appeared next to the snaking line. leading to the employment office, indicated in black capital letters. The design is another signal that the Tories are hoping to fight the election campaign on economic issues.

The Conservatives are hoping to reclaim their reputation as the party of low taxes, with Jeremy Hunt and Rishi Sunak promising the abolition of national insurance as a long-term goal.< /p>

Speaking to workers in Devon on Wednesday, Mr Sunak said: “For people who work hard, like the rest of you, stay with us, we will continue to cut your taxes to give you the financial security to buy a house, move home , go on holiday and do whatever you want.”

He added: “The proposed alternative, since all elections are about choice, the proposed alternative is the party that, as I said, will raise your taxes, as clear as night follows day.”

However, opposition parties say the Conservatives have allowed the tax burden to reach a 70-year high, which they blame on the financial impact of the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Mr Sunak and Mr Hunt have stressed that if voters decide to “stick with the plan,” taxes will eventually be cut.
