YAROSLAVL, May 31. The former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tula region was detained in the case of illegal migration, reports the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the region.
«As part of the investigation of a criminal case on the organization of illegal migration on the territory of the Tula region… the former deputy head of the department — chief of police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Tula region was detained. He is suspected of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers ) and paragraphs “a”, “c” of part 2 of article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of illegal migration),” the message says.
Man detained by SUSK officers with operational support from the regional FSB Directorate. Searches are underway at the suspect's place of residence and work.
The investigation department clarified that the former police officer is now a civilian.
A source in the regional security forces said that the detainee is Roman Korsakov. He holds the position of Chairman of the Board of the Tula branch of the non-profit organization «Union of Employers in the Field of Safety and Security» of the federal coordination center for security service managers.
Previously, the Sovetsky District Court of Tula arrested 12 defendants in the case of illegal migration, including the head of the migration department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region Denis Oskin, three more defendants were put under house arrest. According to SUSC, everyone is charged with organizing the illegal stay of at least 700 foreign citizens in the region.
