A suspect in the murder of a church worker in Sergiev Posad was arrested

MOSCOW, May 31The man accused of murdering a church refectory worker in Sergiev Posad was arrested; during interrogation, the man could not name the motive for the crime, according to the Telegram channel of the Moscow region headquarters of the Russian Investigative Committee.
The Moscow Region Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation previously announced the arrest of a suspect in the murder of a refectory worker at a church in Sergiev Posad, who inflicted 13 stab wounds on her. He turned out to be homeless, as noted in the Telegram channel of the Moscow Region police. During interrogation, the man admitted guilt. According to the source, the murder took place in the courtyard of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ with the chapel of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
«A local resident has been charged with the murder of a refectory worker (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). At the request of the investigation, the court has chosen a preventive measure against him in the form of detention until July 30, 2024,» the report says.

It is noted that during interrogation the man could not name the motive for the crime. The investigation will order a psychological and psychiatric examination, as well as a forensic examination of the murder weapon seized from the scene.
