On the eighth day of the election campaign, Labor has failed to shake the furore over Diane Abbott's political future as it faces fresh attacks from within the party.
Angela Rayner, the deputy leader, said Ms Abbott should be allowed to stand as a Labor Party candidate in a direct challenge to Sir Keir Starmer.
This has increased pressure on Sir Keir, the Labor Party leader , who is accused of “culling” left-wing parties.
Amid the backlash, Sir Keir visited Wales on Thursday, where he publicly supported Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething despite a series of recent controversies.

Sir Keir Starmer stood alongside embattled Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething as the Labor Party's election campaign arrived in Wales.
At an election rally in Abergavenny, Sir Keir thanked Gething for his «leadership» and said he «looks forward to a new partnership» with the First Minister if Labor comes to power in Westminster.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Sir Keir said he was «proud» of Labor's achievements in Wales, where the party has been in power since devolution in 1999, and said Mr Gething was doing a «very good job».
