The expert told how scammers are trying to get money with the help of children

MOSCOW, June 1Fraudsters are trying to gain access to confidential information and other people's money with the help of children, including through gaming communities, promising virtual rewards – privacy settings and passwords can help combat this, said MTS Defender product director Andrey Biychuk on the eve of Defense Day children.
According to the expert, scammers may try to obtain confidential information through a child, posing as an organization familiar to him, be it a bank or a social network; the names of family members are often used. They may send messages with enticing links, which in turn lead to a malicious site or even infect your device with a virus. In addition, scammers also use the games themselves for their own purposes, for example, one of the most popular – Roblox.
< br />“There are a huge number of communities in various social networks where users discuss changes to the gameplay and share tips on how to complete it. Fraudsters … disguise themselves as regular chat participants and say that they have the opportunity to give away a large amount of game currency for free. Then they ask to complete a simple “quest”, and the children end up providing bank card details (sending photos), opening a mobile bank and making transfers, and sometimes even taking out a loan,” Biychuk explained.

He emphasized that “passwords for the phone and online banking that are not known to the child” and privacy settings in children’s messengers so that they cannot write or call numbers not from the address book will help to avoid such cases. Also, do not leave bank cards at home in an accessible place.
Biychuk also emphasized that, in general, anti-virus protection will help protect children from calls from spammers and scammers. “Many people neglect to install antiviruses on children’s smartphones, tablets and computers. However, this is necessary to protect devices from malware and phishing attacks,” the expert said. You should also not neglect educational conversations, discussion of examples of fraud and their consequences, and special protection services.
