The electric Lada e-Niva Travel debuted at SPIEF as a concept

The experimental electric Lada e-Niva Travel retained the mechanical all-wheel drive system of the original gasoline SUV and received a new, more fashionable front end design.< br/>

Let’s say right away that for now the Lada e-Niva Travel is just a prototype and it is unknown whether it will ever become serial, but its carefully designed appearance indicates the direction of the future restyling of one of the most popular SUVs in Russia. The Lada Niva Travel's appearance was last redesigned in 2020, and the electric version sports a larger radiator grille and a more prominent front bumper with foglight sockets painted in body color.

In terms of design, the e-Niva Travel was made with relatively little effort: the gasoline engine and gearbox were removed, but the transfer case and standard mechanical all-wheel drive system were retained. The place of the internal combustion engine was taken by an electric motor, its peak power, as reported by RBC, is 120 kW (163 hp), constant — 60 kW (81.5 hp). The battery capacity, which ate up part of the trunk volume, is 34 kW h, the range on one charge is 175 km. The battery can be charged from a household outlet in 12 hours.

The interior of the Lada e-Niva Travel is essentially standard, but it has black leather upholstery with contrasting orange accents. The electronic instrument panel and power plant mode selector are borrowed from the Lada e-Largus. The reduction gear in the transfer case and the center differential lock are activated by buttons under the multimedia system screen.

Market prospects for the Lada e-Niva Travel are still difficult to assess: it is unlikely that an electric SUV, obtained by conversion from a gasoline one, will be be in great demand, but it may well occupy its niche in the market, especially if the price is not exorbitant.
