MOSCOW, June 11 The sister of director Andrei Tarkovsky, the inspirer of the Mirror film festival, Marina Tarkovskaya, died at the age of 89, the ex-deputy head said Department of Culture of the Ivanovo Region Nadezhda Sviyazova on the social network VKontakte.
«Marina Arsenievna Tarkovskaya has passed away. <…> Spiritual inspirer and core for many years of the Mirror IFF named after Andrei Tarkovsky, daughter of the great Russian poet Arseniy Tarkovsky and sister of the great film director Andrei Tarkovsky, author of many books about Arseny and Andrei Tarkovsky. <…> A truly irreparable loss,” she wrote.
The Union of Cinematographers of Russia confirmed the information about the death of the writer.
Tarkovskaya is a memoirist and biographer of her father and brother, author of the books “Fragments of the Mirror” (2018), “Arseny Tarkovsky: My Fate Burnt Between the Lines” (2009), “Memories of Andrei”, “Now we have a new address» (2014), as well as the compiler of the collections «I lived and sang once…»: memories of the poet Arseny Tarkovsky» (1999), «About Tarkovsky. Memoirs in two books» (2002).
She starred in the documentaries «Rerberg and Tarkovsky: The Other Side of Stalker» (2009) and «Marina's House» (2012).
