
MOSCOW, July 6 The first world racket, Polish Iga Szwiatek, is not was able to reach the fourth round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament, which takes place on the grass courts of London.
In the third round match, Szwiatek (1st seed) lost to the representative of Kazakhstan, Yulia Putintseva, with a score of 6:3, 1:6, 2:6. The meeting lasted 1 hour 59 minutes.
Putintseva reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2020. She had never made it past the second round at Wimbledon before.
In the next match, the 29-year-old native of Moscow, ranked 35th in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, will play against Latvian representative Elena Ostapenko (13).
In another match, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina beat Tunisia's Ons Jabeur with a score of 6:1, 7:6 (7:4). She will compete with Chinese Wang Xinyu to reach the quarter finals.
