MOSCOW, July 10, Alena Sulizova. Former Russian national team footballer Andrei Arshavin admitted that he might become a coach in the future.
Arshavin is studying to become a coach at the academy of the Russian Football Union (RFU). Previously, he completed an internship at Dynamo Moscow.
“»We're not done yet, we have the last session in August. Now we need to film five training sessions, then finally put it all in a portfolio, write it down and be ready for the exam, which will take place in October. I will happily wave my category coaching license certificate A. I can already ask to sit on a bench for someone in the Premier League, but I’m not going to yet. At Zenit the bench is full, there you have to jostle with someone — that’s not my option. So far I’m not thinking about it at all. I just want to learn. I prefer being a manager. Naturally, I don’t rule out that in the future I could become a coach. I didn’t think that I would coach at the academy — I helped and I don’t regret it, I liked it,” said Arshavin.
Arshavin is 43 years old. As a member of the Russian national team, he became a bronze medalist at the European Championship in 2008. At the club level, he won the UEFA Cup and Super Cup with Zenit St. Petersburg. Arshavin ended his football career in 2018.
