Rouen Cathedral Spire Caught on Fire in France
One of France's national heritage sites, Rouen Cathedral, is on fire, BFMTV reports. Eyewitnesses told the publication that thick clouds of smoke were rising from the cathedral's spire.
Meanwhile, the city's mayor, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, reported that the building's spire had been damaged by the fire. According to him, the cause of the fire is unknown, and «all state resources have been mobilized.»
The local prefecture clarified that those inside the cathedral have been evacuated.
Rouen Cathedral is a Gothic Catholic cathedral in the city of Rouen in northern France. It is known from the paintings of the impressionist artist Claude Monet.
