MOSCOW, July 22. Fraudsters have invented a new way of illegal enrichment — they require victims to pay a fine for visiting Internet resources prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation, Yuri Bastrykin, head of the information security department of PGR agency, said in an interview with the Prime agency.
In fact There are prohibitions and restrictions on visiting certain Internet resources, but there are no fines for this. But at any moment the user may see an advertisement about the need to pay a fine. This is not necessarily a prohibited site — it can be anything if the scammers have set the appropriate settings on it.
According to Bastrykin, such resources are often well disguised, and sometimes you can reach them completely unintentionally. In all cases, you should not be afraid of messages that you have violated something and will get into trouble with law enforcement. Don’t rush to transfer anything to the “special card” — contact your loved ones first, and they will most likely reassure you.
If the demands continue, just block the scammers. “After all, they won’t be able to cause you any harm if you don’t send them money yourself,” the specialist concluded.
