Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, while on a visit to China, said in an interview with the TSN TV channel that no one will be able to persuade the country to peace talks, since this is «impossible.» He emphasized that Ukraine itself will make all decisions regarding the negotiations.
Kuleba noted that Western allies are also not trying to force Kyiv to negotiate. «These are not just diplomatic words, but a real position,» he added.
Recall that Kuleba's three-day visit to China began on July 23. During a meeting with the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, he said that Ukraine is ready to discuss peace terms with Russia. However, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry later clarified that it does not see Moscow's readiness for negotiations.
Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin does not understand the essence of Kuleba's statement and is waiting for clarification. He also suggested that Kyiv could return to the issue of negotiations due to the difficult situation.
Western experts believe that Kuleba's unexpected statement about the possibility of peace with Russia may be connected with Donald Trump's recent telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky.
