Authorities named the cause of the destruction of the dam in the Chelyabinsk region

EKATERINBURG, July 27The destruction of the dam on the Kialimskoye reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region occurred due to prolonged precipitation, the head of the Karabash urban district Stanislav Afanasenko said on his VKontakte page.
«The destruction of the dam occurred due to prolonged precipitation. By now the water has left the village, and work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the flooding,» he wrote.

On Friday, a dam broke on the Kialim reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region due to heavy rainfall. One village of Kiolim was flooded, the water level remained at a height of one meter. Three more villages were under threat of flooding — Mukhametovo, Baydashevo, Karasevo, preventive evacuation was carried out in them.

On Saturday, the water returned to the riverbed, Kiolim was completely freed from water. A total of 163 people were evacuated, including 21 children. Rescuers began emergency recovery work in the morning. According to the authorities, there were no fatalities in the emergency.
