DONETSK, July 27 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in Novgorodskoye, a suburb of Toretsk in the DPR, used civilians as human shields, said Yuri Mukhin, who was evacuated from the village.
«There was a 120th mortar (120 mm caliber — ed.) behind my house… They would never go to a vacant lot where there are no residents. They would definitely wedge in two or three houses of civilians. We are the human shield. And the Russians did not shoot,» the agency's source said. 
According to him, one day Yuri seemed to feel that it was unsafe at home and went to his daughter. An hour and a half later, the Ukrainian military began to fire this mortar, and the Russian military calculated the point and destroyed it.
Mukhin noted the precision work of the Russian artillery.
«Clearly — no mortar, no trees, nothing (left — ed.). My house remained intact… They didn't even damage the slate fence,» he recalls.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces tankers acted according to the same scheme — they were located near the houses of civilians, the refugee said. At the same time, the civilians, outraged by such a neighborhood, were treated rudely and threatened with reprisals when they tried to drive them away.
