A photo of French President Emmanuel Macron accepting a passionate kiss from his sports minister has gone viral. It happened during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. And now the public has a question: what about Brigitte?

Forty-six-year-old Macron was captured in in a tight and rather strong embrace with Amelie Oudea-Caster during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Oudea-Kaster, also 46, holds the back of Macron's head and kisses him on the cheek, with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal awkwardly turning away.

French magazine Madame Figaro called it a «curious kiss,» noting that the minister «clearly knows how to make people talk about her.»

The publication writes: “After the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the tension eased, giving way to euphoria. In a fit of joy, Sports Minister Amélie Oudea-Caster and President Emmanuel Macron kissed. The kiss caused quite a stir.”

Meanwhile, online commentators did not ignore the event either. One user wrote: “What kind of kiss is this between Oudea and Macron??!” Another commentator added: “Brigitte (Macron’s wife) won’t like this.”

Another added: “Damn it, son! What a strange hug!”, and a third was laconic: “Oh la la.”

One user was more critical, adding: “I consider this photo indecent, it is unworthy of the president and the minister.”

However, not everyone shared such anger. One user wrote: “I don’t see anything wrong with this. The French are famous for kissing both cheeks as a greeting. Vive la France!

Earlier this month, Oudea-Castera caused a stir when she dove into the Seine in an attempt to convince the world the river was fit for Olympic athletes.

Posting a video on social media, she said: «Promise kept,» referring to her earlier vow to take a dip in the water before the Games.
