The new crossover of the American brand, intended for the Chinese market, is equipped with a mild hybrid power plant.
The Cadillac brand, owned by the American concern General Motors, presented its XT5 SUV in the fall of 2015, and its production started in 2016; the model underwent an update in 2019. Now the crossover has reached a generation change: the new product is officially presented in China. It was previously assumed that this SUV would leave the domestic market, but it is possible that later the “second” XT5 will still appear in the States.

The first photos were published in the database of the Ministry of Industry of China at the beginning of this year, and now the second generation Cadillac XT5 has been completely declassified: the model has appeared on the brand's «celestial» website, while the prices have not yet been announced, the price list will be published later.
The exterior of the next-generation crossover is designed in accordance with the current corporate style of the brand. The large pentagonal radiator grille with a smoothed lower part has a fine mesh pattern, with a logo at the top. Above the grille, you can see a silver bar that connects the narrow horizontally elongated strips of the running lights.
Below are the vertical main headlight units (the SUV has matrix optics), a large air intake with a pattern also in the form of a grid is integrated into the lower part of the front bumper. The new Cadillac XT5 has traditional exterior mirrors with black housings, as well as regular door handles. The roof rails, door sill trims, central pillars and glazing frame are made in black.
At the rear of the roof there is a «shark fin» antenna, at the top of the trunk there is a spoiler, and the horizontal parts of the lights are also connected to each other by a silver bar. Their vertical parts visually echo the headlights on the «front». The lower part of the rear bumper is made of glossy black plastic with a chrome curved line and a pair of trapezoidal exhaust pipes.
The overall length of the new model is 4888 mm (75 mm more than its predecessor), the width is 1957 mm (54 mm more), the height is 1698 mm (12 mm more). The distance between the axles of the «second» XT5 is 2863 mm (6 mm more than the first generation crossover). The trunk volume is 653 liters. The model is equipped with 21-inch wheels, behind which are red six-piston Brembo brake calipers.
The interior of the Cadillac XT5 is now also designed in accordance with the modern family style. On the front panel there is a large 33-inch display with a 9K resolution, which combines a virtual instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. In front of the driver is a three-spoke steering wheel with physical keys and touch buttons with vibration feedback. The front seats are equipped with ventilation, heating, massage and memory functions.

The new generation crossover in China will be available with a mild hybrid system, which is based on a 2.0-liter turbo engine working in tandem with a 48-volt «electric suspension». The maximum output of the system is 237 hp, and the torque is 350 Nm. A nine-speed automatic transmission is offered in pair. The drive is front or all-wheel drive (depending on the version).
