Crossover Jaecoo 7 from Chery, which is expected in Russia, appeared on official footage

According to preliminary data, the SUV will be offered with a 1.6 petrol turbo engine, the model is equipped with all-wheel drive.

Chery's new sub-brand Jaecoo premiered last month at the Shanghai Motor Show. The brand will be global, its cars are planned to be sold in Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Jaecoo will also appear in Russia, and we are going to position it as the “senior offshoot” of another sub-brand of Cherie — Omoda (by the way, it was also decided to bring Omoda to the world market). Two crossovers have already been announced — Jaecoo 7 and Jaecoo 9, both made from models of the parent company: the compact «seven» is an upgraded version of the cross, which is still known in native China as Chery TJ-1; well, the “nine” is the just launched Chery Tiggo 9 with other emblems and nameplates. So now Cherie has begun to actively promote the Jaecoo 7 cross: the first branded video of the new product has been posted on the Web.

The original TJ-1 was promised two exterior design options — brutal and calm. But the Jaecoo 7 will only have a «restrained» version (at least for now), and the «seven» got the original grille — with vertical shiny stripes. Other exterior features are a three-tier head optics (diode running lights with “pixel” sections are located on top), a “floating” roof, retractable door handles and taillights made in the form of a single die.

The brand itself has not yet revealed the dimensions of Jaecoo 7. We know the dimensions of the Chery TJ-1 thanks to the drain of the Chinese certification body: length — 4538 mm (most likely, we are talking about the version with a massive body kit), wheelbase — 2672 mm. By the way, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, well-known to Russians, has a distance between the axes of only 2 mm less, that is, the models are probably unified.

Inside, the new crossovers repeat each other, here the main features are a rather large separate tidy screen and a vertical multimedia system tablet stuck to the front panel. It is expected that the Jaecoo 7 will be offered with a 1.6 petrol turbo four 197 hp and a seven-speed robotic box with two clutches. Drive forward or full. Chery TJ-1 has a similar technique, in addition to this cross, hybrid versions are also promised.

As previously reported in the Russian office of the Omoda brand, which, we remind you, will deal with Jaecoo sales, two models of the new brand will be brought to our market before the end of this year. Their names were not officially announced, but since there are only two crosses in the Jaecoo range today, it is logical to assume that it was about the “seven” and “nine”. However, in Southeast Asia, for example, a third car has already been announced — Jaecoo 5 (it is only designated as a canopied car so far). So let's wait for the release.
