He could have been at the New York Met Gala, as befits a Hollywood star of his status, but instead Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney rode high in an open-top two-seat. the deck bus is celebrating its club's record breaking season.
At $50,000 (£40,000) a Met Gala ticket may have been a good evening, but nothing could beat Wrexham's historic return to the Football League after a 15-year hiatus.
The entire newly appointed city seemed to come out to support the players and owners as they made their way through the heart of Wrexham on the 3.5-mile route to and from the racecourse.

Reynolds' Blake Lively's wife was not on the bus. Her own absence from the Met Gala has been the subject of discussion, with some speculating that she may have joined her husband in the UK instead. However, she posted a photo on Instagram of herself using a breast pump and confirmed that she missed the Met Gala for childcare reasons, not because the Welsh football team got promoted.
Attended as men's and women's teams. Reynolds said the parade didn't mean it was a case of «job done.» for Hollywood stars.
“Ultimately, like any business, you want it to perpetuate and keep growing. You don't want to lose money, but I don't think any of us are doing this to make money. So it's just about growing the best club possible and finding value in every possible area, be it financial or emotional: sometimes it's impossible to tell.»
Why are they planning this growth? The Premier League is «100% possible,» Reynolds insisted. “Of course our goal is to get into the Premier League – why not if we can do it? Whether it's five years or 20 years, that's the goal, that's the mission.” The crowds were so big that three buses were also an hour late to return to their homelands. Among the crowd were Becky and Sonny Hendrix from Yorktown, Virginia, who had traveled all the way from the United States to watch the parade.
They originally traveled to the UK after watching Welcome to Wrexham on Netflix and watching a Notts County game. Here they became friends, and once Wrexham was promoted, they bought tickets for a second trip to join in the celebration.
We love it here. We took a picture with [manager] Phil Parkinson, so it was cool,” said Mrs. Hendrix. Her husband added: «We wanted to celebrate with the wonderful people of Wrexham.»
Everyone around cheered for «Super Paul Mullin» who scored an astonishing 47 goals during the season, the most in the league as the Red Dragons scored 111 points to pass Knotts. County to name.
But the loudest applause, when the players and officials boarded the buses, went to the owners.

Reynolds and McElhenney's initial investment of £2m last season appeared to go to waste when Wrexham fell twice on the last hurdle. at Wembley and were forced to play another non-league season.
But this time they were unstoppable. Mullin's goals and that great penalty save from former England goalkeeper Ben Foster in the crucial decider against Notts County sealed the deal.
Whenever Reynolds was asked «Why Wrexham?» he always answered by saying, «Because of that.» The fan reaction spoke for itself.
They were even more delighted by the news that Reynolds was allegedly ready to buy a mansion for 1.5 million pounds on the outskirts of the city.
