The new Ram pickup showed up in fresh photos and videos

Developers from Brazil and the USA are participating in the creation of the future model. The truck is intended for the South American market.

Belonging to the auto giant Stellantis, the Ram brand is represented not only in the United States, but also in other countries. So, in the South American market, for example, in Brazil, the line of this brand includes full-size pickups Ram 1500, 1500 Classic (this is a variant of the previous generation of the model, which is still in service), as well as versions 2500 and 3500. In the relatively near future the gamut will be expanded with a new pickup, its name has not yet been officially disclosed.

According to preliminary data, in the hierarchy of the Ram brand, the new truck will be between the “older” Ram 1500 model and the “younger” 1000 pickup truck (such a car is sold in Latin America). It is possible that the novelty being developed will receive an index of 1200, however, there is already a car with this name in the history of the brand: it was produced between 2017 and 2019.

Recall that the future novelty appeared in the first video teaser a couple of weeks ago. Then the Brazilian division showed footage with a raised hood, as well as a massive grille, which received a grid pattern and a large inscription in the form of the brand name. It will also be displayed on the stern. Judging by the teaser, the Ram pickup will have large headlights with LED daytime running lights and vertical taillights.

Now the Brazilian office has published new photos and videos: in them the whole car was already in the frame, however, this is still a disguised prototype. The test version has a massive front end with a large «grill» and a small air intake integrated into the lower part of the bumper, a two-row cab, traditional side mirrors and «regular» (not recessed) door handles.

So far, there is little official information about the technology: the company said that under the hood of the new Ram pickup truck there will be a Hurricane 4 engine, but its characteristics are still left behind the scenes. It is known that the future truck will be the first car with this engine produced in South America. By the way, earlier Kolesa.ru spoke in detail about the new Hurricane gasoline bi-turbo six, the output of which exceeds 500 hp. This Stellantis design is expected to replace naturally aspirated V8 HEMI engines on larger models.

The South American market will become the main region for the pickup, which has received the code name Ram 1200 so far. But it is possible that later a model with the same name may appear in the United States, while there is a possibility that North American fans of the brand will receive a completely different pickup truck, albeit in the same segment.

By the way, on Ram's home market is gradually starting to go green (in line with Stellantis' strategy). The brand has already created a fully electric model — a full-size pickup 1500 REV. The serial version was declassified in February of this year, and key technical specifications appeared a month ago.
