In fact, any motorist can face overheating of the engine. The cause of this phenomenon can be both a faulty cooling system and a combination of various factors. It is possible to diagnose overheating on your own, but it is best to turn to experts for help.
According to mechanic Alexei Stepanov, overheating can be caused by depressurization of the engine cooling system, radiator contamination , a broken thermostat, poor coolant circulation, or a faulty radiator fan.
If the car engine is overheating, stop the vehicle and turn it off. After that, set an emergency stop sign, turn on emergency lights and open the hood to allow the power unit to cool. After a while, you can try to independently find the causes of overheating in the form of coolant leaks or a poorly functioning fan.
After all the procedures, you can add coolant and start the engine again. If overheating continues, you should call a tow truck and deliver the car to the nearest service station. It should be remembered that in the case of an overheated engine, it is strictly forbidden to open the radiator cap and pour water on the engine.
