2023 Rallycross Mid-Season: New Faces on the Podium and Tough Battle for Victory

Last weekend, May 12-14, the third stage of the Russian Rally Championship, Cup and Championship was held in the Atron sports complex in Ryazan -cross. The mid-season race turned out to be incredibly spectacular and presented a lot of surprises.

So, this time a large number of new athletes appeared on the podium. At the same time, some pilots were able to hold their positions and not go below third place. In the National class, Ilya Rodkin (Voronezh) and Egor Sanin (Samara) continue to be the strongest athletes of the season, who replace each other in the first places. At the third stage, Ilya took first place, Egor — second, and the third was deservedly received by the pilot from Elektrostal Antoshin Georgy, who had not yet been in the top three this season.

In the Super-1600 class, two new pilots climbed the “bedside table”: second place — Konoplev Kirill (Yekaterinburg), third — Gallyamov Rifat (Kazan). The first place was taken by Roman Yankun (Achinsk), who closed the top three in the last stage.
No less interesting were the results in the Superauto class. Egorov Artur (Kazan) became the leader of races for the third time in a row this season. In second place is the pilot, who has never climbed the podium in the 2023 season — Badmaev Dmitry (Ulan-Ude), third place after not entirely successful races in the second stage was taken back by Evgeny Zhivotov (Stary Oskol).

< p>The leading pilots of the D2N class were almost completely able to maintain their positions. Nikolay Kalinin (Yoshkar-Ola) is again in first place, Oleg Zhavoronkov (Nizhnekamsk) is in second place, Stepan Anufriev (Moscow) is in third, down one position compared to the previous stage. And, perhaps, the races of young pilots in the D2-Junior class became the most intense race. There were accidents, and exits from the track, and even violations of the rules. The guys show a great desire to win, which, unfortunately, with little experience in rallycross does not always give the desired results. According to the results of the races, the best became: Mikhailov Matvey (Moscow) — first place, Shumilov Georgy (Ulyanovsk) — second, Yurchenko Vadim (Verkhnyaya Pyshma) — third.

The next stage of the 2023 rallycross season will take place on 21- July 23 at the Igora Drive circuit.
