Artificial intelligence can be used to improve public services, says Rishi Sunak.
The prime minister said he had previously discussed AI with other leaders at the Council of Europe. this week and expected the issue to be brought up again at the G7 in Japan this weekend.
He said the UK could be a leader in new technology, but it was safe for them.
The Prime Minister said the UK would ensure that it would seek to increase regulation of new technologies as they expand their capabilities by putting in place a «fence » to protect children.
Some experts warn that the spread of AI could be catastrophic for humanity. But others believe it could bring huge benefits if properly regulated.
Mr. Sunak suggested that his talks with world leaders could be about ways to coordinate regulation.

«I think if it's used safely, if it's used safely, obviously that artificial intelligence is useful for growing our economy, transforming our society and improving public services,» he said.< /p>
“But like I said, it has to be done safely and securely, with barriers in place, and that was our approach to regulation… so we can use AI to its advantage.
“We took action. a deliberately iterative approach because technology is evolving rapidly and we want to make sure our regulation can evolve as it does.”
He added: “This will require coordination with our allies. In fact, we discussed this yesterday at my meeting of the Council of Europe; we discussed AI in particular.
«And one would expect it to be part of the conversation at G7 as well.
“I think the UK has a track record of leading and bringing people together, especially around technology regulation.”
He called the Internet Safety Bill “another area of new regulation we introduced in response to new technologies and how it affects our lives.”
“The world looked to us and to this Bill as a cutting-edge example of how to do it,” he said.
Last month, the Prime Minister announced £100m seed funding for a task force responsible for expanding the UK's AI capabilities.
BT will cut 55,000 jobs by the end of the decade
It was Thursday announced that by the end of the decade, BT will cut 55,000 jobs, including replacing about 10,000 employees with artificial intelligence.
The telecoms giant will cut its workforce by 40%. toward the end of fiscal year 2030 as it battles to keep the ship sustainable amid rising inflation and energy costs.

Approximately 10,000 roles will be replaced by automation as the company implements artificial intelligence, mainly in the customer service department.
