A trip to the emergency room after a warning from an assistant
"It was Cop26 in Glasgow and I think I had a heart attack" says a book published this week.
A&E tests revealed «a protein called troponin that is released into the blood after unusual heart activity,» Mr. Khan, who has been mayor since 2016 and is currently running for a record third term until 2028.
Initially, troponin levels were «borderline». but the second test showed that they had doubled. “I may have had a little heart attack earlier this evening,” he said. he wrote.
He said he went to the emergency room after a 10:00 pm call from an advisor Health Mayor Dr. Tom Coffey, who warned him that some middle-aged men had died in their sleep after going to bed feeling unwell, including former Labor Party leader John Smith in 1994.
After initially declining his aides' pleas to call an ambulance, Mr Khan «surrendered». and went with his police guards to A&E.
"I couldn't believe it" He said. "I felt good. I just couldn't believe that I had a heart attack. The whole situation seemed unreal. A few hours later I had to give, perhaps, the largest address of my city hall.
"And yet I was here at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, half my body in suit trousers and the other half in a hospital gown, waiting to be told if I was going to be admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment"34; 34; p>'Take care of your health'
He was discharged from the emergency room around 6am when the third test showed his troponin levels were slightly elevated, but not enough to warrant admission to a hospital room. .
It is not known what caused him to suddenly fall ill, but medical experts confirmed that the symptoms and effects were consistent with a mild heart attack, according to the Evening Standard.
Mr Khan told the newspaper on Monday that "it was likely had a small heart attack" but "I'm fine", adding: "The main thing is that I follow the advice, take care of my physical and mental health and eat sensibly.
< p> «This morning I ran 5 km my doctors will be happy to hear about it.” It's over now.»
Mr Khan urged people to «take care of their physical and mental fitness.» and "get validation" heart and mental health experts while eating well and not sacrificing exercise for the sake of work.
Aides told the newspaper the mayor has «recovered well» and keeps fit by running about 12 miles a week and playing football and tennis on weekends.
