Angry Brighton residents urged councilors are opposed to plans to build a two-meter fence for Soho House due to fears that their sea views will be blocked.
The private members' club hopes to build an Art Deco «border treatment» including wrought iron. a fence with an ornate, ornate entrance along the city's waterfront.

Residents of nearby houses are concerned that the new border will block their view of the sea and, as a result, increase traffic on the road in front of the building. Others have complained that this will drive down property prices in the area.
In a complaint written to Brighton and Hove Council, a local resident said: “This proposed two meter fence will completely deprive the sea view and immediately devalue our property».

Another wrote: «We're counting on you as our planning department to look into paying council tax to residents, not just hinder us by succumbing to pressure from profitable companies like Soho House.”

Soho House, which operates 41 clubs around the world, has been given a Level II building permit. a site listed for nautical parades in 2016, but with a planning stipulation that the sea view between the two new rooftop buildings should be preserved.
The perspective was blocked for several years after billboards were installed in 2017, remaining there for months after the place opened in May 2022, to be demolished the following September.

Brighton and Hove Council said last year that it would prioritize preserving the area's heritage. Leslie Johnson, head of heritage at Brighton and Hove Council, noted that the new club is located in a «listed building in the historic district and in a highly visible location on the main street.»
Brighton Clubhouse It has restaurants, bars and an event space, as well as a terrace overlooking the sea and a separate glass-fronted building overlooking the Brighton Palace Pier.
