Jurgen Klopp's displeasure with the refereeing during Liverpool's defeat to Tottenham is likely to intensify following the revelation. The Premier League's independent referees believe Diogo Jota should not have been sent off.
The Portuguese striker saw red for two bookings in his side's 2-1 defeat, meaning Klopp's side have played the last 27 minutes with nine men.
Klopp is pushing for a replay due to the unique situation of Luis Diaz's failure to score in the 34th minute.
The controversy overshadowed other controversial incidents in the game, including red cards for Curtis Jones. and Jota. An appeal against Jones' three-match ban failed this week.
Liverpool have no opportunity to appeal Jota's second-half sending off for two yellow cards.
Premier League Independent Incidents Commission in key matches appreciated referee Simon Hooper's decision to give Jota a second warning in the 69th minute after a foul on Spurs' Destiny Udogi.
“If you are already booked, you simply CANNOT do this!” 😤

Liverpool have now learned that a commission report into last week's game said Jota was treated harshly. According to ESPN, the report states that «the majority felt the decision was incorrect as they felt it did not meet the threshold for a yellow card.»
The five commissioners are believed to have voted 3-2 against the decision to reserve Jota. The panel includes three former players or coaches, as well as a representative from the Premier League and PGMOL.
Klopp said on Wednesday he believed Jota's red card was one of several bad decisions.
Liverpool had to play the final 21 minutes plus six minutes of stoppage time with eight outfield players, conceding the winning goal in the 96th minute.
Diogo Jota received two yellow cards for not touching not a single player. I would say this is unprecedented,” Klopp said.
PGMOL said in a statement last weekend that “standards fell short of expectations” during the controversial game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, citing a failure to award award. Diaz's goal.
Liverpool does not have the opportunity to appeal Jota's punishment. He is available for the Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise but is suspended for Sunday's Premier League match against Brighton.
