Alternative Nissan Pathfinder: serial crossover presented

This model differed from the global SUV not only in design, but also in its contents. The crossover is expected to go on sale next year.

In the spring, Nissan showed another Pathfinder crossover at the Shanghai Motor Show: it was a concept with a completely different design, it foreshadowed a model developed specifically for China. And today at the motor show in Guangzhou the premiere of the production car took place; “live” photographs from the exhibition were published by Autohome. For the Celestial Empire, the cross will be produced locally at the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture plant, while the “global” Pathfinder is made in the USA.

The commercial Chinese SUV has adopted a lot from the prototype, but there are also simplifications. For example, on the tailgate, instead of a luminous inscription with the model name, there are now chrome letters, and the front inserts no longer glow. In addition, the rear lights have changed. If we compare it with the global Nissan Pathfinder, then the “celestial” model has a different grille, front bumper and headlights.

The length of the crossover intended for China is 5130 mm, which is 109 mm longer than that of the “global” SUV. The width is 1981 mm (+2 mm compared to the American-made cross), the height, on the contrary, is trimmed by 34 mm to 1767 mm. The wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2900 mm.

The interior has also been redone, inside there are screens for the instrument panel and multimedia system installed back to back (the global Pathfinder has separate displays, and the central one is more compact than that of the “Chinese”), the front panel, air deflectors and tunnel are designed slightly differently. The crossover will be offered in a six- or seven-seater version.

Chinese customers Nissan Pathfinder will be available with a 2.0 VC-Turbo petrol turbo-four with variable compression ratio (factory index – KR20), the engine produces 252 hp. and is combined with a CVT, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. By the way, a similar engine is installed in the local sister Infiniti QX60. The global Pathfinder is equipped with a naturally aspirated V6 3.5 (288 hp in the US specification).

According to preliminary data, the crossover will enter the Chinese market in the first quarter of next year. The brand has not yet announced plans to supply such a Pathfinder for export.
