Alexandrinsky Theater actor Iosif Koshelevich died

ST. PETERSBURG , November 18The Alexandrinsky Theater actor Joseph Koshelevich died at the age of 75, the theater’s press service reports.
“The Alexandrinsky Theater announces with deep sorrow that on November 17, 2023, at the 75th year of his life, the artist Joseph Iosifovich Koshelevich died. He devoted almost 35 years of his creative biography to serving the Alexandrinsky stage, in the troupe of the State Academic Drama Theater named after A. S. Pushkin was adopted in 1989,» the statement says.
The theater will provide additional information about the farewell ceremony.

Joseph Koshelevich from 1967 to 1969 studied in the studio at the Academic Drama Theater named after. Yanka Kupala (Minsk). In 1973 he graduated from the M. Shchepkin Higher Theater School (Moscow). Then for 16 years he played on the stage of the Russian Drama Theater named after Samed Vurgun (Baku).

Over the years of work at the Alexandrinsky Theater, Koshelevich played more than 30 roles, was a master of episodic characters, including: Ambassador Batu («Alexander Nevsky» by V. Belov, 1990), Sir Robert Wilson («Field Marshal Kutuzov» V. Solovyova, 1990), Zuban («The Highest Measure» by V. Arro, 1990), Presenter («Elegy» by P. Pavlovsky, 1993) and others. A striking stage work was the role of the provocateur Lippanchenko in the play by Andrei Moguchy based on the novel by Andrei Bely “Petersburg” (2005). In the 2006/2007 season, he played the role of Petrushin in the play “The Living Corpse” based on the play by L. N. Tolstoy and the role of Anton Prokofievich Pupopuz in the play “Ivans” by Andrei Moguchy based on “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” and others works by N.V. Gogol. In addition to working on the theater stage, Koshelevich was engaged in theater pedagogy and acted in films, in particular in the TV series “Streets of Broken Lanterns” and “Cop Wars”.
