Commander of the boat of the «Serna» project Senior midshipman of the Russian Navy Denis Nikitin of the Black Sea Fleet died while repelling an attack by Ukrainian drones, RIA Novosti reports citing the press service of the Black Sea Cossack District.

The deceased was reportedly a Cossack from the Nevsky farm society. The farewell ceremony took place in Novorossiysk on November 20. The serviceman is survived by his wife and 2 daughters.

The report says that the attack by Ukrainian drones took place at night and attacked a Black Sea Fleet base in one of the villages of Crimea. A total of four surface kamikaze boats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Russian boats.

“Saving his ship from being hit by a drone, the senior midshipman died heroically,” reports the press service of the Black Sea Cossack District. It is also reported that the sailor will be presented with the Order of Courage.
