True, this SUV is currently presented only in one country. There, the special SUV got a more powerful turbo engine, plus the new version has a different decor.
In South Africa today, November 23, sales of the “sporty” Omoda C5 GT SUV started (the Omoda brand belongs to the Chinese company Chery). By the way, some local specialized media write that the circulation of the special cross will be limited to about a hundred copies, although there is no mention that this is a limited edition either on the brand’s website or in the model brochure.
Be that as it may, the main difference between the Omoda C5 GT is its technology. If the standard crossover in South Africa has a 1.5 TCI petrol turbo-four with 156 hp. (230 Nm) and a CVT, the “sport” version is equipped with a 1.6 TGDI turbo engine with output of 197 hp. and 290 Nm, which is combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. In addition, the new version has a multi-link at the rear instead of a semi-independent suspension.
Note that 1.5 TCI and 1.6 TGDI engines are also available in models in China and Russia. However, in the Middle Kingdom Omoda is not a separate brand at all, but a series of its parent Chery, and in the Russian Federation these engines are “strangled”: 147 and 150 hp. respectively (210 and 275 Nm). But our cross-country Omoda C5 with 1.6 TGDI has all-wheel drive, while in Africa and China the five-door is in any case presented only with front-wheel drive.

It is reported that with the new engine, the C5 GT crossover will reach the first “hundred” in 7.8 seconds. For comparison, our 150-horsepower all-wheel drive SUV will complete this exercise in 8.6 seconds.
External features of the Omoda C5 GT are bronze decor (including inscriptions with the brand name) and similar colored 18-inch wheels (but you can also choose darkened wheels), black trim on the front bumper and side “skirts”. In addition, a wing was attached directly to the spoiler located on the trunk door.

There is no photo of the interior of the new product: apparently, the crossover repeated the standard model inside. The list of equipment for the GT version includes a scoreboard (combined instrument and multimedia system screens, each 10.25 inches diagonal), dual-zone climate control, atmospheric interior lighting, wireless charging for a smartphone, all-round cameras and adaptive cruise control.
The “sporty” version turned out to be the most expensive in the model range: in terms of local currency to our money Omoda C5 GT will cost approximately 2,770,000 rubles. A standard SUV with 1.5 TCI in South Africa costs somewhere between 2,108,000 — 2,400,000 rubles. The GT version has not yet been announced for other countries.
