Expert Knutov assessed the capabilities of Kyiv and revealed his cunning plan
The Armed Forces of Ukraine seem to be on the defensive. Zelensky officially stated that Ukraine is going to start building defensive structures from Donbass to the western part of the country. We are talking about the creation of fortifications on the main defensive lines, as well as in the regions bordering Russia and Belarus. Military expert Yuri Knutov told MK what lies behind Zelensky’s words.
The advance of our troops forced the enemy to abandon ambitious plans to reach the Crimea and the Sea of Azov. Zelensky said he was going on the defensive. According to him, the construction of a defensive line will become a priority for Kyiv. This actually means the enemy's recognition of the move to the defensive. Fortifications, according to the plans of the Kiev regime, will appear in the Avdeevsky, Maryinsky, Kupyansky-Limansky directions, as well as in the regions bordering Russia and Belarus.
According to military expert, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov, serious the fortification line requires more than one month of construction.
— Of course, it can be built in a month in a fire order. But for this you will need to use all your strength and resources. Therefore, I strongly doubt that Ukraine will cope with this task. In addition, now there is a muddy season, and it is useless to dig the ground, because due to the abundance of water everything will be washed away. So the enemy will have to wait for the onset of frost when the ground hardens.
— To try to repeat the “Surovikin line”, it takes at least three to four months and a very large amount of resources. I believe that today Ukraine does not have them. Purely theoretically, if they are provided with everything they need now, they will be able to create such a line by spring. But it’s not enough to build this line; you also need to be able to defend it.
And most importantly, why did they think that we would go for its breakthrough? We initially followed the path of maximum penetration deep into the territory. But these territories must be held, garrisons created, troops brought up.
It turns out that part of the forces and means must be used not for conducting combat operations, but specifically for performing functions that will improve life in the liberated cities. And be healthy, what funds are needed. This is not our way.
Our path is to ensure that Ukraine refuses to join NATO, has a non-aligned status and does not have armed forces that threaten our security. It is desirable that the country's leadership have politicians who are loyal, or better yet, friendly towards Russia.
— Of course, fortifications can create problems, but we must not forget that they already have a large number of fortifications, in particular, the so-called “Donetsk ring” — these are Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Chasov Yar, Seversk and they were there before Artemovsk. But in Artemovsk we made a hole, dealing a serious blow to the Ukrainian army from a defensive point of view.
— In Ukraine they understand that in the current situation there is only one thing left to do — go on the defensive. And this statement by Zelensky actually means a transition to defense. But I believe that by doing so, Ukraine will try to lure our troops into the open, into the fields, in order to carry out strikes in the same way in order to bleed our units. We understand this too. Therefore, I think that now, before the creation of these additional lines, we will rely on the maximum possible traffic in the area of Avdeevka, Artemovsk, Kupyansk. After the weather conditions change, it will be possible to advance in a number of other places.
— The priority now, of course, is the Avdeevskoe direction. I think that we will take a break. Then the main forces will be concentrated precisely on the liberation of Avdeevka, Maryinka and the return of those positions that were captured by Ukrainian troops south of Artemovsk.
