The main characteristics of the four-door designed for China have been revealed. There, the model will be available both with an internal combustion engine and as a hybrid.
The premiere of the transformed Toyota Camry sedan took place in November, and the company almost simultaneously showed two options: for North America and China. However, in both cases, all the characteristics were never revealed. But now fresh details have appeared about the Chinese four-door — its certificate has been entered into the database of the local Ministry of Industry.

The sedan is officially announced as a new generation, but in fact we are looking at a deep restyling of the previous model on the GA-K platform: in particular, the body is almost the same as its predecessor. At the same time, in terms of design, the Chinese Camry differs from the American version. So, the four-door designed for the Celestial Empire has its own radiator grille (there will be several options to choose from), the interior has an original front panel, plus the sedan has retained the “floating” tablet of the multimedia system, and under the central air deflectors there is now a touch strip to which the controls are located “climate” and other functions (in the USA the new Toyota Camry has a traditional climate control unit).

The length of the standard new model for China is 4915 mm, which is 30 mm longer than the previous local sedan. The height, on the contrary, is trimmed by 5 mm to 1450 mm. The width and wheelbase have not changed — 1840 and 2825 mm, respectively. The certificate also indicates other dimensions — they probably refer to the “sportier” version with a more massive body kit: this sedan is slightly longer (4950 mm) and wider (1850 mm). Note that the Russian defunct four-door is the same in size as the previous Camry for China.

In the States, the new generation sedan will be offered exclusively as an HEV hybrid, but in the Middle Kingdom, the Camry will still be available only with an internal combustion engine, although there is only one “traditional” version left — with a 2.0 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a power of 173 hp. (on the outgoing model, the two-liter engine produces 177 hp; the previous sedan is still presented with a 207-horsepower 2.5 engine). There will also be hybrids in China; as part of the premiere, two modifications were announced with installations including naturally aspirated engines 2.0 and 2.5. However, the Ministry of Industry database has so far only declared a junior version with a 152-horsepower naturally aspirated engine (the old hybrid Camry does not have such a version).

The new generation sedan will hit the Chinese market next spring. As before, the Camry will be produced for this country by the GAC Toyota joint venture.
