Omoda expands the range of the C5 crossover for the Russian market

The local office is positioning the “new thing” as a special version, which was given its own name – Trendy Red. Such cars differ in body color; for now, the new bright shade is available only in the Lifestyle package.

The Omoda sub-brand, owned by the Chinese company Chery, was announced in the summer of 2022. Cars of the new brand belong to the “high middle” segment; its first-born in the Russian Federation was the Omoda C5 crossover, which is sold in the home market under the name Chery Omoda 5. Its official debut in Russia took place in October last year: first the front-wheel drive version reached dealers, and In the spring of 2023, sales of the all-wheel drive version started.

Previously, the local line of SUVs was replenished with a special Black Diamond series, distinguished by a black body color without decorative red elements. Now the company has announced the release of another special version of the Omoda C5 to the market – it is called Trendy Red. Such crossovers differ due to the bright red color of the body. For now, this color is not available for all versions of the model.

Now the version with the Trendy Red body color on the Russian market is available in the Lifestyle configuration (according to the price list on the official local website of the brand, this version is the next version after the basic Joy). This C5 crossover has front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 147 hp. (maximum torque – 210 Nm). It is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. This SUV takes 9.9 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h.

Note that the same technology is used in the starting version of Joy and the mid-range Ultimate configuration. Two more versions – Active and Supreme – received an all-wheel drive system, and under the hood they had a 150-horsepower 1.6-liter turbo engine. The maximum torque is 275 Nm, and it comes with a seven-speed DCT robotic gearbox. These crossovers require 8.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

It is known that the Trendy Red color will become available for all of the above versions of the Omoda C5 (regardless of the wheel formula) in January 2024. In the meantime, you can buy a Lifestyle C5 in red – the cars have already reached Russian dealers.

Today, the recommended retail price of the basic version of the model is 2,679,900 rubles, the Lifestyle version will cost 2,819,900 rubles, the most expensive version with front-wheel drive is 2,949,900 rubles. For the starting all-wheel drive you will have to pay 3,139,900 rubles, and the top-end configuration costs 3,309,900 rubles. All prices are indicated without taking into account current promotions.

In the future, the brand’s line in the Russian Federation will be expanded to include the all-electric Omoda E5 SUV (it is a “green” version of the C5). As the local representative office of the brand recently said, the model will reach Russian dealers in the first quarter of next year.
