ST. PETERSBURG, December 14, Andrey Senchenko. Forward of the Zvezda and VHL team, Matvey Zaseda expressed the opinion that participation in the Channel One Cup helps him show his readiness to play in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
Zaseda is a player for Spartak Moscow. In the All-Russian Hockey League (VHL), the forward plays for the Red-White farm club Khimik Voskresensk. Saseda was called up to the Zvezda and VHL team to participate in the Channel One Cup. In the first match, the team, which included leading young players from the KHL and VHL clubs, lost to the Russia 25 team with a score of 2:5. Saseda scored a goal.
«»The feeling is great. The level of play here is very high. It is very important for me to show myself at this level. I'm glad that they believe in me here. I'm trying to justify it. Adaptation to the team was successful. We already know many of the guys either from «tower», or according to the first team. We had two days to prepare for the tournament, but during this time we managed to acquire something new for ourselves, held several meetings at which we were explained tactics and how we should perform at Cup. We learned this and, I think, showed it well today. I arrived to the national team from Khimik, the club wished me success and said that they would follow my game. After today's match, many guys from the team already wrote and congratulated me on goal and said that we looked good in the game,” Zaseda told reporters.
«Will participation in the Channel One Cup help me increase my confidence in order to gain a foothold in the base of Spartak? Confidence has never left me, it has been with me since the start of the season. With my play and physical form I showed that I am ready to perform ( for Spartak). I show this even now, it is important for me to prove that I can also play at the international level. I try to do this,” added the forward.
