KAZAN, December 19, Adela Ziatdinova. Sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev stated that he respects the opinion of the President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) Irina Viner about the inadmissibility of Russians participating in the Olympics without a flag and anthem, but at the same time believes that athletes may not agree with this position and go to the Games.
Earlier, Wiener stated that she considers it unacceptable for Russian athletes to perform at the Olympic Games in Paris in a neutral status.
“”Whoever wants can go. I respect the opinion of Irina Aleksandrovna Viner, she really faced injustice, as we remember, at the last Olympics and with disqualification. This is a person who did a lot not only for Russian rhythmic gymnastics, but also for the world. Therefore, this is her right, and I respect her opinion. Of course, you can disagree with this opinion and go to the Olympics,” Guberniev said.
Earlier, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the Games in Paris in an individual neutral status subject to a number of criteria. The Olympics in the capital of France will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
