YAROSLAVL, December 20 Former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Tula Region Diana Grishina received eight and a half years in prison for bribery, and her husband, who acted as an intermediary, also received a sentence transfer of a bribe, according to the regional prosecutor's office and the Russian Investigative Committee for the region.
“The Central District Court of Tula issued a verdict in a criminal case against two former employees of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, Diana Grishina and Elena Polovinkina, as well as an employee of a commercial organization, Roman Grishin,” the message says. The ex-officials were found guilty of receiving a bribe by an official personally and through an intermediary, and Grishin was found guilty of intermediary in bribery.
The court found that from March 2014 to May 2019, Grishina, who at various times held the positions of head of department and deputy minister of natural resources and ecology of the Tula region, received money from the head of a sand mining company. The total amount of illegally obtained remuneration was 4.6 million rubles. At the same time, 450 thousand rubles were received by her in collaboration with her colleague Elena Polovinkina, the prosecutor’s office claims.
Part of the rewards, the supervisory agency notes, were transferred through Roman Grishin, who is Grishina’s husband, and another intermediary, against whom a previous conviction took place.
According to SUSK, bribes were transferred for connivance and patronage on the part of female workers of the ministry.
«»Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced Grishina to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment, to be served in a general regime correctional colony… The mediator, Grishin, was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment, to be served in a maximum security correctional colony,» — the prosecutor's office reports, clarifying that Grishina is prohibited from holding positions in the civil service for eight years.
Also, according to the prosecutor's office, the couple's minor child will be placed in a social center to resolve the issue of transferring custody to relatives.
The court sentenced Polovinkin to a fine of 2.1 million rubles with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the civil service for a period of seven years.
The prosecutor's office clarifies that the head of a construction sand mining company was brought to criminal liability in 2021 for carrying out business activities without a license.
