The classic frame Land Rover Defender continues to inspire manufacturers of exclusive cars on both sides of the Atlantic: another variation on the theme of the iconic “British” was prepared by the young Legend Motor Company from Salt Lake City (USA, Utah).
Legend Motor is a new player in the American custom car market, using well-tested recipes and components to handcraft its models. In the United States, there are dozens of companies offering restomods based on the classic Land Rover Defender or its replica, but the SUV from Legend Motor is not a restomod or a replica, but an author’s reimagining of the British classic.
The car shown in the photographs is called the Legend Signature Series: externally, it actually quite meticulously copies the original, body-on-frame Land Rover Defender, discontinued in 2016, but the technical filling and interior are completely new, and the aluminum exterior panels are custom-made, and not purchased from a JLR dealer.
The aluminum body can be completely enclosed or have a removable fabric top, it is attached to the frame via custom Kevlar gaskets, and the frame itself is borrowed from the long-wheelbase Jeep Wrangler Unlimited of the previous generation (JK). The chassis uses modified continuous axles Dana 60 HD, shock absorbers — Falcon 3.3 or Fox 2.5. Behind the 17-inch steel wheels shod with 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM3 tires are powerful disc brakes.

The engine is a 6.2-liter GM naturally aspirated V8 LT1 (461 hp, 630 Nm) or a compressor V8 LT4 of the same volume with a maximum output of 659 hp. and 881 Nm. The gearbox is a GM 8-speed hydromechanical “automatic” paired with a two-stage Atlas “transfer case” (the “lower” gear ratio is 3.8). The kit includes a custom cooling system and a custom stainless steel exhaust system.
The interior is decorated in deliberately classic style: six dial gauges are screwed to the flat front panel, the three-spoke steering wheel is height adjustable, the modern Restomod Air air conditioning is controlled by three rotating knobs, the removable audio system must be connected via Bluetooth, all the seats are hand-upholstered in aniline leather.
Legend Signature Series costs from $250,000, the final price depends on the individual wishes of the customer.
