Another Changan Hunter has been presented: the pickup truck is distinguished by its design and more

The truck has a spectacular appearance and a hybrid installation — this version will complement the range.

In the photo of the Ministry of Industry of the People's Republic of China, this Changan pickup truck opened up back in October. Now, in the homeland of the brand, a full-fledged presentation has been held, configurations and preliminary prices have been announced. From Chinese, the model name can be translated as Hunter — and this name is new to the local public, although the company has been using it in foreign markets for a long time. Moreover, Changan Hunter, which debuted today, was not developed from scratch. Before us is a hybrid version of the Changan Lantop frame truck (aka Lantuo, and in Russia it’s Hunter Plus), which, in turn, is a luxurious version of the Kaicene F70 model from Changan (the “Chinese” also have brothers from the Peugeot and Fiat).

So, the hybrid Hunter has its own “face”. The pickup truck received vertical headlight blocks, on top of which there are strips of running lights. The model also received a frameless radiator grille in the style of the latest Changan cars and a brutal front bumper. The lights came from Changan Lantop/Hunter Plus, but there is a different stamping on the tailgate.

Like a “traditional” pickup truck, the hybrid is offered on the domestic market in two versions – standard and stretched. The length of the first is 5380 mm, the wheelbase is 3180 mm, the length of the cargo platform is 1600 mm. Indicators of the second option: 5630 mm, 3430 mm and 1850 mm, respectively. Note that the Changan Lantop in both cases is slightly shorter, but in other dimensions this model will coincide with the hybrid.

The interior of the new Hunter is generally the same as its brother. Inside there is a multi-layered front panel and a curved display (but these are two separate displays); a number of physical buttons are placed above the central air deflectors. However, there is still one important difference: in the hybrid, the steering column lever is responsible for changing gears, while in the “traditional” Lantop there is a familiar selector on the central tunnel (the Changan Hunter has a wireless platform for charging a smartphone in this place). Of course, the list of equipment of the new Hunter also includes modern security systems and driver assistants.

Changan Hunter is a sequential hybrid; the installation includes a 2.0 petrol turbo-four with a power of 190 hp, which operates in generator mode. The pickup truck comes with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive: in both cases, an electric motor with a power of 177 hp is installed on the rear axle, and the all-wheel drive version also has a 95-horsepower electric motor at the front. The total output of the top version is 272 hp; it is stated that such a truck will reach the first “hundred” in 7.9 seconds. The hybrid has a battery with a capacity of 31.18 kWh, on electric power alone it is capable of driving up to 180 km (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle), and the total range is 1031 km.

Currently the price of Changan Hunter ranges from 139,900 to 216,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 1.8 — 2.8 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The price list, as mentioned above, is still preliminary, that is, actual prices should be slightly lower. The “traditional” Changan Lantop pickup truck (gasoline or diesel) in China today costs somewhere from 100,000 yuan (about 1.28 million rubles).

It is possible that later a hybrid Hunter will appear in other countries (Russia may also well be included in the list of export markets).
