In the new generation, the Italian hatch has become related to the Opel and Peugeot models. The premiere of the spectacular five-door will take place early next year.
The pre-production Lancia Ypsilon hatch of the new generation has already posed for the camera, but initially these shots did not appear on automotive media sites at all: the compact became the hero of crime chronicles in French public publications. The fact is that the car, almost devoid of camouflage, was stolen, after which the prototype somehow ended up in the city canal of the Montbéliard commune. The Stellantis concern, which owns the Italian Lancia brand, did not officially comment on the incident and continued to publish teasers of the hatchback. And here is a fresh picture — it shows the food of the upcoming Ypsilon.

In the new generation, the “Italian” shared the French modular CMP platform with the Opel Corsa, Peugeot 208 and other compacts from the extensive Stellantis portfolio. An all-electric version has been announced for the future Lancia Ypsilon; the model will also be offered as a hybrid: the technology is probably the same as that of the brothers.

As for the design, the five-door has radically changed both outside and inside. The exterior displays the features of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE concept, which debuted in the spring, the main features are three diode lines forming Y, which act as running lights, large Lancia inscriptions on the front and rear instead of the usual brand emblem, and round rear lights, which, in turn, are a reference to the Lancia Stratos. A new multimedia system S.A.L.A (stands for Sound Air Light Augmentation; sala is also “living room” in Italian) was installed in the cabin.

The world premiere of the new generation Lancia Ypsilon will take place in February 2024, and before the presentation the brand will most likely publish several more teasers.
Recall that the previous hatchback has been in service since 2011, today it is on sale exclusively in Italy. The new Ypsilon will mark the return of the brand to the large European market: following the compact, the brand plans to release electric cars for which the names Aurelia and Delta will be revived.
