Results of 2023: renderings and reality

At the end of the year, we traditionally sum up our work, comparing the new products of the last few months with the expectations expressed in previously published renderings.< /p>

The online magazine Kolesa.ru has been regularly making collections from the expectation-reality cycle for several years now; six months ago, the latest of them was published, which collected new items for the first six months of 2023. Today we will look at the models that premiered during the second half of the year.

As usual, we will start in alphabetical order. In October, the German company BMW presented a new generation of the X2 image crossover, and our renderings of the model were published in mid-summer. In reality, the car received slightly different headlights, a different bumper and an original rear design.

Another new product for October is the restyled Kia Carnival minivan, which has received a significantly redesigned design. Thanks to previously published spy photos, we were able to reproduce his appearance almost exactly.

Last September was the month of the premiere of the new generation of the French crossover Peugeot 3008. A month and a half before it, we published our own images of the car, and in general, expectations coincided with reality. The differences include the filling of the headlights, the shape of the stampings at the bottom of the doors and some details of the rear part of the SUV.

Skoda pleased us with three new products at once, the first of which was the second generation of the flagship Kodiaq crossover. Its premiere took place in October, and a few days before that we shared our own vision of the new product. Here you can note small differences in the shape of the front optics, the design of the rear pillars and the graphics of the LED lights in the headlights.

A month later, the Czech brand demonstrated another flagship — this time it was the Superb passenger car. They showed the car in two bodies at once, available for previous generations. We made renderings of the liftback in June of this year, and here expectations for the most part coincided with reality, with the exception of perhaps the detailing of the lights.

With the station wagon, renderings of which were published about a week before the premiere, it was a little easier, because we already had official sketches of the car at our disposal, on which we could see all the main features of the exterior.

Toyota pleased us with a couple of new products with varying degrees of cross-country ability. So, at the beginning of August, the new generation Land Cruiser Prado SUV debuted, and a few days earlier we made renderings of the car based on the available teasers. There are a number of differences in the design of the front and rear optics, radiator grille and bumpers.

The second Japanese new product is the first Century crossover in history, which was shown in early autumn. Literally the day before the premiere, renderings of the model were published, and in reality the luxury SUV received slightly different body proportions, bumper design and rear design.

September is traditionally rich in automobile new products, and another premiere was the third generation of the best-selling German crossover Volkswagen Tiguan. The online magazine has previously repeatedly published renderings of the car, and the most recent of them date back to June of this year. In the front view, the most significant difference can be called the bumper design, although this is explained by the difference in trim levels. The rear bumper is really different in terms of the design of its lower part.

Will complete today's selection  the first production minivan from the Swedish company Volvo, which received the EM90 index. It was officially demonstrated in mid-November, but we shared our own vision of the car’s appearance at the end of August. The real car differs in some design details of the front end, sidewalls, which remained unchanged from the Zeekr 009 model, and the graphics of the lights.
