PYATIGORSK, January 8 Investigators opened a criminal case after the death of six passengers and the driver of a minibus that collided with a truck in the Predgorny district of the Stavropol Territory, reports SUSC on region.
It was previously reported that on Monday at about 14.00 Moscow time on the Novopavlovsk — Zolskaya — Pyatigorsk highway near the village of Pyatigorsk, the driver of a passenger GAZelle, making a left turn maneuver, did not give priority in traffic and allowed a collision with a KAMAZ, which was moving from the opposite direction directly. As a result of the accident, the driver and six passengers of the minibus died. The passenger of the GAZelle and the driver of the truck were taken to the hospital.
“»In the Piedmont district, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of improper provision of services for the transportation of passengers (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) …At the direction of the head of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Ivanov I. N., the investigation of the criminal case has been entrusted to the investigators of the management staff,” the department said in a statement.
As the regional State Traffic Safety Inspectorate clarified, a 63-year-old resident of Essentuki was driving a passenger GAZelle; the deceased was not a persistent violator of traffic rules. “It was also established that there were nine passengers in the minibus at the time of the accident, of which six passengers were killed and three were injured,” the regional traffic police said in a statement on the Telegram channel.
