The sporty Hyundai Ioniq 5 N debuted last summer; in terms of design and technology, it is very different from the “duty” versions of the Ioniq 5, but Hyundai believes that among the owners of the electric hot hatch there will be those who want to make it even more special. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N NPX1 concept presented at the Tokyo Motor Show shows what a production hot hatch can be like “at maximum speed”, and it was immediately announced that the parts declared on the exhibition sample will appear in the N Performance Parts catalog within this year — changes, if any, will be made. then insignificant.
Compared to the production Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, the NPX1 concept has a new, more aggressive front bumper with a developed diffuser and longer side stabilizers and a more strict, rectangular shape of the air intakes. The wheel arches and side sills are widened, the rear bumper has an elongated racing-style diffuser, and the tailgate has a wider and longer spoiler with side stabilizers. The swollen wheel arches house new composite wheels with carbon fiber spokes, behind which modified brakes are hidden. The suspension is lowered, the wheel alignment angles are changed. The interior has not yet been shown, but it is reported to have racing bucket seats and new Alcantara trim. Will the Ioniq 5 N become more powerful with the help of updates from N Performance Parts, unknown yet. The hot hatch's standard powertrain consists of two electric motors (one per axle), their maximum combined output is 650 hp. and 770 Nm. The Ioniq 5 N reaches the first “hundred” in 3.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is 260 km/h. The battery capacity is 84 kWh, the range on one charge is 448 km according to the WLTP cycle.
