KAZAN, January 16 An accident involving ten cars occurred on the M-7 Volga highway in Tatarstan, information about the victims is being clarified, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic reports on Telegram -channel.
«Today, on the 953rd kilometer of the M-7 Volga highway (Mamadysh district), an accident occurred, which preliminary involved 10 cars. Traffic in this section was limited,» the message says.
At present, traffic has been partially restored. State Traffic Inspectorate employees are working at the scene. Information about the number of vehicles and casualties is unclear.
The Tatarstan prosecutor's office organized an investigation into the mass road accident. The supervisory agency notes that it will find out the causes and circumstances of the accident, and will also evaluate the work of road services to ensure traffic safety. If there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken.
On Tuesday afternoon a storm warning was announced in the republic. In the evening of January 16, at night and during the day on January 17, strong winds of 17-22 meters per second are expected in Tatarstan, gusts of 25-27 meters per second in places, a snowstorm with reduced visibility to 500 meters or less, heavy snow.
