Previously, we presented the Chinese sedans Chery Arrizo 8 and Changan Lamore as station wagons, today we will present another new product on the Russian market in such a body — a sedan from the Dongfeng company.
Dongfeng Motor Corporation is one of the largest automobile companies in China, its history began in 1969. In Russia, the brand was known primarily for trucks for a long time, but already in 2014, deliveries of passenger models began to our market, which were initially offered under the DFM name. And at the end of spring last year, the Chinese company officially announced a new product — the Dongfeng AeolusShine Max sedan, which was first introduced in the home market in 2021 and bears the name Aeolus Yixuan Max.

The car is quite large in size: its length is 4797 mm, width – 1870 mm, height – 1475 mm, wheelbase – 2770 mm, which allows it to be classified as class D according to the European classification. Unlike most European models in this class, the Dongfeng is presented exclusively in a four-door version, although its very modern appearance could make a quite attractive station wagon. The car shown in the renderings, in addition to the directly changed body type, also received an enlarged trunk lid opening due to a decrease in loading height. In addition, it retained the most characteristic element of the sedan's sidewalls — the original chrome molding.

Dongfeng AeolusShine Max is built on the DSMA (Dongfeng Superior Modular Architecture) platform, which is in fact a legally modernized CMP (Common Modular Platform) of the Stellantis concern. The car has McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. In Russia, the car is offered with a single engine — a turbocharged 4-cylinder 1.5 with a power of 190 hp. (320 Nm). It is paired with a Getrag 7DCT300 seven-speed robotic gearbox with two “wet” clutches (by the way, the same gearbox is also installed on one of Shine Max’s main competitors — the Chery Arrizo 8 sedan).

Today in Russia, the Dongfeng passenger car lineup consists of two models — in addition to the sedan, you can buy the first generation 580 crossover, which was first introduced in 2016 (2,750,000 rubles). There is also a DF6 all-wheel drive pickup truck with diesel engines, its minimum price tag is RUB 3,299,000. As for the Aeolus Shine Max model, it is available with the only aforementioned engine and in the uncontested Luxury configuration — 2,990,000 rubles.
