Social activists asked to deprive Makarevich* of the title of People's Artist

MOSCOW, January 17. The head of the Federal Project for Security and Anti-Corruption (FPBC) Vitaly Borodin demanded that musician Andrei Makarevich* be deprived of the title of People's Artist by sending a statement to the Russian Ministry of Culture, the document is at the disposal of the editors.

“FPBK calls for attention to the Russophobic activities of Andrei Makarevich*, who currently lives in the state of Israel and is included by Russia in the register of foreign agents,” the appeal says.

In his address, Borodin recalled that Makarevich* was against the possible entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine during the reunification of Crimea with Russia, condemned the decision to issue Russian passports to residents of the DPR and LPR, and criticized the Northern Military District and Russian citizens.

&quot “We are outraged by the fact that these individuals, awarded the highest honorary titles, do not bear any responsibility for their actions,” the document states.

The head of the FPBC asked the Ministry of Culture to put forward the candidacy of Makarevich* for deprivation of the title for discussion with the president, and also create a working commission to resolve the issue regarding the artist.

The department has not yet responded to Borodin.
In September 2022, the Russian Ministry of Justice included the founder of the Time Machine group in the register of individuals performing the functions of a foreign agent. Ukraine was indicated as the source of funding, and political activities were also mentioned.
Makarevich* himself later tried to challenge this decision in the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow, but his claim was rejected.
